Airborne Museum

Airborne Museum

The Airborne Museum is a museum in Oosterbeek about the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944 and was completely renovated at the beginning of 2020. Located in the former headquarters of the British troops during the battle, the museum has an extensive collection of weapons, clothing, equipment, interviews, photos and videos. In addition to the collection on display, the museum also contains the award-winning Airborne Experience. In this underground space, visitors themselves follow in the footsteps of a soldier.

Doorwerth Castle is a sturdy, medieval castle. It shows how people used to live on an estate. Doorwerth Castle's rich history spans more than seven centuries. It knew rich, but also less fortunate times. Now it shows off again in its full 17th-century glory, complete with gatehouse, carriage house and stables. The kitchen garden is managed in such a way that it seems the landlord's kitchen still needs to be supplied with vegetables and flowers. That kitchen itself is also worth visiting. The knights' hall and other rooms in the east and north wings have been restored to medieval form as much as possible.

Middachten Estate is one of the largest private estates in the Netherlands and has been family-owned for more than 800 years. The current owner, Count zu Ortenburg, is the 25th generation. Middachten is a complete estate with forests, farmland, farms and a fully furnished castle amidst beautiful gardens. Moreover, it is still in full operation. You are welcome to admire the gardens, tour the castle or wander through the woods.
